Everyday in America...

This series of paintings was my senior thesis project titled, "Everyday in America…" as each piece includes a daily statistic that affects American youth. I wanted to invoke a sense of irony through the saccharine nature of each painting that may seem soft and idyllic at first glance, but encourages the viewer to examine the piece for the deeper meaning hidden within. My goal in creating this series was not only to highlight current injustices that occur to children daily, but also as a personal commemoration of the difficult journey and sacrifices that paved the way for my present circumstances.
